Geography Project
Life • April 5th, 2006
This week I received a well-traveled green booklet, titled “Geography Project”. The book belongs to “David”, a 6th grade student in Florissant, MO, who sent it out around October, last year. David asks the recipients of the book to write a little bit about themselves and the place where they live, and then to send it to a person living in a different city, state, or country. The person receiving the book in April should send it back to David’s school.
So, here I am, the last person receiving the book… Very cool if you ask me… I read everybody’s letters and found that this little thing has gone from Florissant to: Omaha, Nebraska; Biebesheim, Germany; Brussels, Belgium; Katy, Texas; New York City; Tahlequah, Oklahoma; Portland, Oregon; Toledo, Ohio; Overland Park, Kansas; Stuart, Florida; Alpharetta, Georgia; Nashville, Tennessee; and then, to me in Salt Lake City.
Being the last page on the book, I couldn’t resist the temptation to use the computer and scrapbook my entry. I had a hard time reading the handwriting in some of the letters, and my own handwriting has gotten so horrible, that I thought a letter in a pretty font like Optima would be more legible, and hey! I could also write more, and send some pictures… A true nerd, I know, and even more so because I’m about to mail the book back to David and I feel so proud of my entry, and of course, I took pictures of it. HA!

David talks about sports in his introductory letter, and I talk about Colombian mountains, foliage, Utah sunsets, mountains (again), getting constantly shocked by static electricity, snow, and skiing. He’ll be like “Hey! You could have talked about the Blue Devils when you mentioned Durham, NC, instead of all this mountain talk”. Oh well… It was fun. I thought this was a great school project, and so did everybody else writing a page on the book. Thank you, Kim, for forwarding it to me.
