Hi Peggi. I wasn't familiar with Al Stine, but checking his portfolio I can see why you recommend him. His architectural watercolors too! They're so crisp and beautiful... Thank you for mentioning him, and for stopping by. Your work is beautiful. I've never dared to paint animals... Your pet portraits amaze me.

Hi Maria, I agree! Jan Kunz's work is so inspiring. I have a painting I posted on my blog that I started just after finishing her book. It's only stage one, but I'll post more as I progress. Do you also know the work of Al Stine? He has a book called "Painting Watercolor Portraits" that is very good.

You are so right about Jan, Her books are wonderful. She also has two DVDs out and they really show you her style and her methods. You can even paint along ( if you hit the pause button)… Haha

I know… His work is really interesting. He’s been doing all the illustrations for A List Apart since the last redesign, and his portfolio is really nice to look at.

It’s always so refreshing to me when you see real art mixed in web design… I try to do that a little with watercolor. If it wasn’t because page size was already getting large, I would’ve added a few more artsy embellishments to MQStudio.
