A Different Perspective »

It’s the morning of my 35th birthday, and while I’m getting ready for our second childbirth class, I realize that for the first time ever, today I’m not thinking that today, 35 years ago, I was born. No. This morning, 34 weeks deep into pregnancy (that is, 3-7 weeks away from labor), what I’m thinking […]

So Far So Close »

So many times in my life — be it important or ordinary times — when I’m ready to throw the towel or at least scream if I can’t quit whatever it is that I feel I can’t take anymore, I am reminded of an old story…
Once upon a time, there was a girl who hated […]

Computer Drawing Tutorial »

I never thought I would write a tutorial on anything, much less one concerning the tool I’m least skilled at, i.e. Adobe® Illustrator®. However, in my first two attempts at using vector graphics to create figurative or portrait drawings, I have created two pieces that I rather like, and one of my readers — in […]

Wimberley Landscape »

Maybe if I start posting an entry for every watercolor painting I’ve ever done, I’ll run out of artwork so quickly that I’ll have to move my lazy butt and start painting again…
I’ll start not with my best piece, but with the only one I’ve painted from life, outdoors. I’m always telling my mom to […]

Transferring Digital Images to Canvas »

Continuing the project I started with DIY Abstract Art, my final decision (thanks for all your comments) was to attempt transferring the watercolor images to fabric or canvas for an unframed look. Since part of my motivation was to explore a new technique, I would like to share some of the lessons I’ve learned during […]

DIY Abstract Art »

For a long time, Joey has been nagging me to create some art to decorate our home’s naked walls… See, our previous house was so open that we didn’t have enough walls to hang my paintings. Now, in need for two separate offices, and in preparation for a baby (not yet conceived) which may trigger […]

Must Conquer Vector Art »

For a long time I’ve shied away from attempting to create what I consider “difficult” vector art. I think the tool is hard to master, and the thought of it used to remind me of my very old failed attempts to convince recruiters that I could become a consultant… With the difference that as bad […]

Mucha Risa »

Existential Designer Thoughts »

This is one of those days in which I just don’t feel on top of my mountain. Paradoxically, the day started with the happy discovery that Digital Web Magazine published an article that uses one of my designs to illustrate good use of color. Back in November I knew my design would be used, but […]

My Art

Most of my drawings and watercolors are about people. I’m detailed oriented, so figurative art is easier for me than landscapes. I’ve tried a few nature scenes, but it’s hard for me to not focus on the details.
