Don Joaquin has officially started eating solids and I thought his fan club would enjoy seeing him take his first meal of cereal, milk, and bananas. Please notice the face he makes, and how he throws himself and holds on to the chair on the last bite (towards the end of the video)… What a […]

Web design is cool and all, but after several years of doing it, just like with any other job, my passion for some aspects of it has diminished a bit.
I’m not sure that I can pull this off, but if I could, I would love, LOVE!, to become an illustrator, and to get back to […]

Silly, I know, but it had never occurred to me how difficult it is to learn to do the things we do so effortlessly with our bodies. It was only several weeks ago, when I saw the expression on Joaquin’s face while he was holding a rattle with his left hand and mom offered another […]

For those who may be itching to see the latest and greatest about Joaquin, this one shows a little bit of everything: talk, smiles, frustration, laughs, worm walk, tears, play, and even a storm at sea.

Only three days after my mom left — and really just one day alone at home with Joaquin — I started to worry… How can I be new to this baby every day?… The question was twofold: How can I always be energetic to be there for my baby day after day?… and also, where […]

Four months ago, when my mom got off that airplane and greeted my 38–weeks–pregnant belly, a new future event was created in time: The day that she would leave and go back to her home.
That day is today.
Today is a very sad day for me, not because it marks the beginning of real life for […]

Right between getting a breast ultrasound (no worries, it was just a cyst) and falling prey to a terrible cold with a fever of 102°F, I went to the baby store to shop for some toys for little Joaco. Wasn’t planning on buying anything big, when suddenly this awesome product crossed my path… The Bumbo […]

I had heard about this before I became a mother…
When it comes to parenting, the world is split in two (of course, with shades of gray in between):
Group 1
I’m a parent now. From this moment on, my kid is more important than me. I will do anything in my power to never let him/her cry, […]

This will have to be a short one. Gotta run and dry my hair so we can go out later to the aquarium, the next destination on Joaquin’s getting–out–of–the–house training series.
In a few words: Bolliti HATES the car seat. HATES the car. Tolerates motion in his new lightweight stroller, but HATES the stroller if the […]

This week, Bolliti has started to signal that he’s very ready to walk. Every time I hold him up straight, he smiles and makes joyful noises, and as soon as he feels the floor under his patitas, his walking reflex kicks in, and he lifts his head up… high… very proud of his clumsy steps.
Of course, at the moment that we decided to shoot this he was already tired, so here you’ll see his performance quickly deteriorating.

Ahhh… The beauty of candid home videos…
Since Joaquin was born I’ve been shooting several short videos of him with my very old digital camera. The main purpose of these is to help us remember all the cute little things he does before he stops doing them, and then of course to share life action images […]

Have I mentioned how excited Joaquin gets when you read to him?… It could be a children’s story, an adult book, or the instructions manual for his bouncy seat… He loves them all!
