Oh! I love this so much. More than anything you’ve put up here. It says so much. I mean, what is she pouting about? The colors are gorgeously expressive, more than the face. Watercolor and charcoal? Pastels?

HA!… and I thought that you all would hate it. It’s so “blue”, isn’t it?

The original sketch is a 3×3 inch little doodle I drew in a few minutes with a pen and a water-soluble graphite pencil. I scanned the B&W sketch, and tinted it lightly in Photoshop.

I’m getting ready with some portable art supplies for the lonely down-time I’ll have during the next days at SXSW, so I was rediscovering my watercolor pencils and such, and playing a little with them. I’m kind of excited about doing a little art with traditional media while I’m in Austin. With the ban of liquids on airplanes, I thought watercolor pencils, wc crayons, and my trusty ink pen would travel well, light, and give me a lot of range.
